The black outline of the heart, which is accented in orange, emphasizes the shape as the focal point of the picture. Likewise, the concentration of brushstrokes within the heart balance the more infrequent strokes of the outer areas. The near symmetry of the work adds to its visual interest. Very lovely.

I love the bold colors and shapes Julia used. The blue background and green hills underscore the red in the flowers, making them the focal point. The use of white in the middle quiets and lightens the piece, bringing it balance. To me this work is beautiful and instinctive.
