Michael has captured the moment of Jesus’ crucifixion in his own special way. I am proud of how Michael’s artwork is always so thoughtful, and that it turns out to be so meaningful and beautiful.

One big, red, plump heart represents all the love Michael has for our family. And, of course the love that we all have for him! BE MY VALENTINE!

Somewhere between Fauvism and the inspired nonsense of a child’s classroom doodles is this contribution by esteemed artist, Michael Declan. This piece offers a rare glimpse into the artistic life of this celebrated American icon and chronicles almost two years of work that, in every respect is uniquely, stylistically, and endearingly Michael.
- Omar (Daddy) on November 13, 2023

A spirited example of medieval European "danse macabre" imagery and the first installment of Michael's "Spooky Skeletons" series, inspired by his father's hallucinatory experiences on the Guadalupe River, where tree branches jolt to life and skeletal forms break into dance.

This is one of mommy's favorites!!! I tell Michael how amazing the human body is all the time.

I really love this piece. I love the tie-dyed colors. It reminds me of Finding Nemo and makes me want to take a trip to the beach.

“Door 50” by Declan Rivera. Inspired by Dan Brown’s Illuminati series, this portraiture of a young man’s decent into a multi-dimensional rabbit-hole comes replete with arcane codes and Kafkaesque symmetry so tantalizingly kinetic as to seem real. Yet another successful addition to this young artist’s early ouevre.

"Checkered Hearts" by Michael is far more than a '00's redux, it is an homage to Aught culture in the only way he knows how to create: immersive, ambitious and remarkably adept at combining rigorous archival research with an interest in the history of popular media. The absolute nature with which his minerals convulse and burn through the flat checkerboard pattern is not only both elegant and grunge but a bold thesis on the structural forces of love. It is easy to forget the long-standing traditions of painting that remain central to his work, and that he is only six-years-old

"Fly" is now "on a wall". This piece was so well-received it has already found its way to a wall in a private collection. We can't wait to see what else the artist has in store for 2023.
- Amanda (Mother) on January 25, 2023
FLY. I love this one, Michael, because it is so simple- and yet so revealing at the same time! Nice job! Love you,
- Nana on January 25, 2023
Inspired by David Cronenberg's 1986 horror film of the same name, Michael Declan's "Fly" is an illicit take on the terrible distortions found among the animal kingdom's smallest but most terrifying creatures: flies. In this take, Michael's careful, colorful assemblage of red, purples and greens belies the cunning indifference and gross sophistication behind this winged creature's intent: to live and feast on your dinner's long discarded leftovers. Well done sir. Well done.

In "Angel's 1st" Michael Declan paints an extraordinary figure that seems to embody the perfection of beauty: an angel. Suspended in the firmament between heaven and earth, time and space, this ethereal portrait features the almighty's power to render its purest creations arrested, by grace and ecstasy. If you look closely you might hear a chorus of angels singing Halleluiah to the most high as it is lifted between the parting sky to where it belongs, among the stars.

Michael did a really great job creating this image of Baby Jesus. It is a really special time when we celebrate Jesus’ birth in just a few weeks time. I love this! From Nana XOXO

Once again Michael65541 serves an uncompromising, modern study on post-impressionistic classics. “Sunflowers” reflects in its broad, discordant brushstrokes an unlikely marriage between the vibrancy of nature and the human desire to control it. Each flower is still and all-knowing in it’s beauty; self-assured on a luminous rose table despite the rampant sea of blue-green waves crossing over. This portrait is more than a still life exercise but a stoic portrayal of what it means to live.
- Omar (Father) on November 16, 2022

"Bird of Feathers" by Michal Declan explodes with brilliant color and an elegant flamboyance worthy of the animal kingdom's most dazzling pheasant, the Peacock. This spectacular array of primary colors is deceptively chaotic. Upon closer examination we see it is the masterful handiwork of an artist Sotheby's describes as "a consummate creator and interpreter of beauties yet unimagined...a generational star."
- Omar (Father) on November 10, 2022
Michael, All I can say is BEAUTIFUL!!!! Nice work! Love you.
- Nana on November 9, 2022

65541 is more than a number but a specter of horrors past. Taking unlimited (if not reckless) license with the traditional scarecrow, Michael Declan handily outfits this modern-day monster with plaid and green polka-dots making it altogether cunning and deceptively cute. It is not cute...inspired by 1980's horror flicks such as Children Of The Corn, this cherubic demon child will haunt you nightmares just in time for Halloween!

Nice job, Michael! Love from Nana

Artist Michael Declan pays tribute to his Nana’s house by creating a stunning work that reflects its native fauna. “Paper Owls” meticulously combines construction paper fragments on a black canvas like colorful brushstrokes in a fresco painting resulting in an incredible work full of tone and contrast. On the bottom edge of the body, brown and tawny feathers, delicately treated with white chalk, cascade the owl’s body like enriched drapery. While above a cerebral array of stunning oranges and yellows brightly form the eyes and nose. “Sometimes the owls just visit my Nana’s fountain,” says Michael. A labor of love, Michael spends around twenty minutes on each piece right before recess (often without a single sip from his juice-box), showing true dedication to his art.

Michael! What a beautiful owl. You did a great job cutting it out and putting it together. You know the owl is my favorite bird! From Nana

Michael Declan obliterates our notion of the self-portrait. This expressionist contribution by one of America's rising talents turns the mirror on us and shows us the kaleidoscope of human emotions we see when we see ourselves. This deceptively simple portrait anoints itself in the tradition of chiaroscuro masters such as Caravaggio. Blending slate black pockets for the eyes and mouth with a swirling halo of primary colors, this is a masterful study in sadness and joy from one of America's newest expressionist masters. Also...he is six-years-old.
- Omar (Father) on September 21, 2022

"Eat The Rainbow" is the latest contribution by emerging artist Michael Declan. The New York Times describes this artist's work as "...trembling with anxiety while feeling a vast infinite scream tear through the fabric of nature." This oppressing brightly colored swirling sky and rainbow, consumed by a monstrous mouth, is reminiscent of other expressionist painters preoccupied with the human condition such as Munch or Kandinsky. Also...he is six-years-old.
