WOW! That is a truly impressive work of art. It gives a great sense of the third dimension. It is possibly the best piece in your gallery which is saying a lot because there are already some remarkable works there.

Grandpa and I went to a fabulous ice cream store . They make the ice cream and add the flavours right in front of you. You can watch them make the waffle cones too. Your ice cream art work would look great hanging on the walls of the ice cream store.

Well, I like peach with sprinkles, vanilla, blueberry, grape, lemon and cherry but I’m not crazy about that scoop of olive in the middle.

The bright coloured strips of paper make it a true three dimensional piece. I did have to make the picture bigger on my iPad to be able to see the flame and the basket. It’s not easy to use coloured pencils, crayons or paint on a dark background but a closeup look shows the details that complete the picture.

You have made a very charming “Joseph” beetle with his coat of many colours. Have you seen real beetles with amazing colours? Maybe you remember the show a few years ago at OMSI where the artist used them to make patterns and pictures.

Great polar bear Kevan! Nicely done!

Nana loves your drawing of a such a sweet friendly ghost. I think your ghost would like to be friends with a little ghost she used to watch on TV called Casper the Friendly Ghost.

So nice to see a sweet charming ghost who is not at all scary.

This makes an important statement that the colour of one’s skin does not matter. The blue is such a peaceful colour that the large area of it at the top makes the work in balance.

Using the different shades and tints of orange gives a fine illusion of roundness. Nana and I stopped by a farm stand last week where they had 141 different kinds of pumpkins, gourds and squashes. If yours were there it would be #142!

I really like the way the different shades of stormy blue divide the warmer colours.

You did a great job! I love it!

Well isn’t that some drawing! Your Mom baked a pie with a pi sign on it and you put the pi sign on the bug. Your drawing has such fine detail. Were you looking at a bug when you did the drawing? Nana loved watching you draw your bear family and hopes that you will draw a new picture when she sees you. Well done Kevan.

Your insect drawing shows that you have outstanding fine muscle control. Very few people your age could draw lines so steadily. Do you plan to do more work on it?

Your painting of the big pumpkin is very special to Nana. It is very much like the pumpkins on a card from your family. The title of the picture is “A Bumper Harvest” and it is a beautiful painting by a Chinese artist, Pan Xiaoling.

The way the soft colours blend together makes this look like a piece of rock crystal. It seems to gleam with light. It is truly beautiful.

Your grandpa shares your love of bears. This is a great picture of one.

Nana always likes seeing your art and she especially enjoys your picture of a monster. It reminds her of the monsters that a famous artist Maurice Sendak drew in his picture book “Where the Wild Things Are.”Your monster looks like he is very good at rolling his eyes and roaring his terrible roars and snapping his sharp teeth. Well done Kevan

This is by far the most imaginative picture of a snowman I have ever seen. It’s a wonderful breakaway from the usual stack of three white circles. I wonder what was so interesting up there that made him look up

The dappled grey cloud is beautifully done. Although the cloud does not frown or smile he gives the gift of a rainbow after the storm. Very lovely work, Kevan.
