In this latest intervention into the material semiotics of everyday life, Ari constructs a meticulously assembled tableau of foodstuffs—pizza slice, sushi roll, French fries, and a milk carton—rendered entirely from humble substrates: cardboard and paper. What at first appears whimsical or didactic unfolds into a densely layered critique of late-capitalist consumption. The pizza slice is not a symbol of food—it is food's aesthetic echo, devoid of nutritional function but saturated with cultural weight. Here, the cardboard functions not merely as a medium but as a critical agent, deliberately foregrounding its artificiality. By invoking everyday edibles and crafting them from palpably non-edible matter, the artist resists mimesis in favor of meta-commentary. The juxtaposition of disparate cuisines—American fast food, Japanese sushi, and the universally nostalgic carton of school-lunch milk—invites an intertextual reading through the lens of globalized gastronomy and the commodification of cultural identity.

This abstract painting captivates the viewer with its bold, round central form, around which a kaleidoscope of vibrant hues unfolds. The circular shape, while visually dominant, is softened by the artist’s deft use of color gradients, blending shades of warm oranges, reds, and yellows with cool blues and greens. This juxtaposition of warm and cool tones creates a dynamic tension, lending the piece a sense of both harmony and discord, as if the colors are in constant flux. One striking feature of the work is its avoidance of clear symbolic references, encouraging a purely phenomenological engagement. The viewer is left to grapple with the painting on a formal level, focusing on the interplay of shape, color, and texture. The thick, impasto brushstrokes add a tactile dimension, enhancing the painting's physical presence and underscoring its materiality. At its core, the painting resists easy interpretation. It invites contemplation, not through any overt narrative, but through its mastery of abstraction. The circular motif, often associated with wholeness and unity, is here destabilized by the tumultuous swirl of color, suggesting a tension between order and chaos. The result is a work that feels both meditative and energetic, offering a complex, multilayered visual experience that resonates long after the initial viewing. This painting is a compelling example of abstract expressionism's ability to evoke emotion and thought through the most elemental aspects of art: form, color, and texture. Its ambiguity is its strength, allowing for a deeply personal and subjective response that shifts with each viewing.

Hi Ari, I was quite taken by your new work! I learned about Van Gogh when we visited your Mom, Dad and Leo in Utrecht. We went to a museum in Amsterdam to learn about his life. I suspect you learned about that. I like yours better!! Thanks for sharing your art. It lifted my heart today. Grandpa in the Hills

Oh Ari, this is my favorite! The sky looks magical and brings out a feeling of wonder and joy. The leaves have creative designs and a few of the designs have faces. Clever! A new superhero might be “Maple Leaf Man”. Just when u you think you’re going to destroy the earth, Maple Leaf Man pours maple syrup in your flux capacitor and BAM! it’s over. (This is the power of art - often it stirs my imagination and ideas.)
