You must know what zentangles means, but I’m guessing it has something to do with a different pattern of black and white in every shape. Your project has black and white, high contrast colors, atop a background of purple and green in soft shades. You have done a beautiful job, Barbara!

I love it! It makes me think of quilt squares which can be “set” in several patterns. The colors are vibrant. Did you start out with a pizza that you painted? I love both pizzas and quilts. Keep making art!

Your painting says “spring”! It has strong vertical lines in various shades of green which contrast with the blue sky. But the best part is all the flowers in many colors and in many positions on the greenery. You’ve done a fine job, Barbara.

Barbara, your bee project is very detailed and colorful. The honey cells are oozing honey and the bees are tending their stored food as well as, perhaps, a new crop of baby bees. Have you been studying the life cycle of bees? Very interesting! My brother Keith and his grandson Micah are both beekeepers. Bees are very important to our food supply!

A dragon for Chinese lunar New Year, right? And fireworks and hot air balloons? Your dragon is scary but beautiful, with so many details and strong colors. Barbara, you’re becoming quite artistic as you learn about events around the world and in our country!

Pine trees on a plaid background, I like it! Do you have a name for this composition? The grays and blacks plus white form a fine background for the green trees. The wrinkles on the trees add another texture. Very seasonal yet Christmasy also. Good work, Barb.

This owl has so many of your favorite colors, Barbara, and also many design patterns. Having the eyes looking to the side is another nice touch. An owl at night is something we don’t often see as we humans are sleeping then. Good work!

Are you thinking about cats and dogs getting friendly with each other? I think this looks like a dog and a cat falling asleep in side-by-side beds with contrasting colors for each half of the picture. Lots of toys for each, too. So tell me how your new cat is doing with Zeke, and what is the new cat’s name? I apologize for not writing sooner about this artwork — the text got temporarily lost amid all my many messages.

Are these your boots? Are you jumping or walking in a puddle on a sidewalk? And is this something you really like to do in the spring? I will guess that walking in the rain is a favorite activity of yours. I like your picture!

This little animal has a crown so must be a king or queen, perhaps. Is it a cat or lion? Are those wings, with pink spots, on both sides? The animal sits on green grass. Above is a blue sky with many hearts so lots of love, I guess. I’m sure there is more story which I would like to hear someday.

I think I see a bird of some type. If I know you, it likely is an owl. But I also see a hat and scarf, so this bird is ready for winter. I hope you are enjoying winter in Michigan. Winter in Florida isn’t nearly as cold as where you are. Keep making art!

We like your apple very much. The red background lines and dots, the black and white seedy section, the lines and spots on the green, the stem and leaf — all together add up to one very fine apple.

This is a very colorful fish! Are you studying fish in your school lessons? They can breathe while underwater, unlike we humans. And fish are a good food source for us. I enjoy seeing your artwork, Barbara.

I wish that you could tell me about your newest painting. There are 5 or 6 parts to it, some colors and maybe some insects. I know there is a story to tell, and I want to hear it.
