Hi Ayanna, This self-portrait is fantastic! I laughed when I noticed you included worn-out spots in the jeans! Can't forget about those! What I find intriguing is that I can pick out elements of both you and your mom (maybe because you resemble her?). If you hadn't written about the color smearing in one of the eyes, I would have never noticed. You are such a talented artist and I truly enjoy periodically checking in to see what you have come up with! Thank you for brightening my day!

Absolutely Super CUTE !!

What a fun drawing, with your creatures engaging in a happy, tumbling, whirly, twirly play session! Judging from the smiles on their faces, they certainly seem to enjoy each other's company! I especially like how the ones at the top have their faces pressed together in such a way that it creates an interesting design. Yes, I imagine it was indeed difficult to add the shading, with the need to press harder to color in the darker parts. I think my hand may have tired out and I would have been tempted to quit. But you didn't! You finished ... and it looks brilliant!

I had not heard of Alexander Calder before, so had to check him out online. Now that I've done that, I'm quite impressed with how you captured elements of his artistic style on his clothing -- the pyramids, the black sun, the mobile. These are all awesome clues to what he accomplished during his remarkable career. Bob and I looked at your Lego guy together, and we wondered why you chose a frown for Alexander's face. Having accessed some photos of him, we now understand that was his typical look. Do you think he was a grumpy bear of a guy or perhaps an exceptionally kind man who appeared a bit harsh because he was so intent on his work? Either way, he was considered an artistic genius, and I think it's really cool you chose him as the subject of your Lego artwork! Thanks for giving me the opportunity to learn more about a brilliant American sculptor and to enjoy your own remarkable artistic talents!

Well, this is a super fun one! I can definitely see the Kaleidoscope effect of many colors and shapes converging in the middle. The color choices are so vibrant! You really have an eye for choosing the ones that work well together! I'm looking at this right before lunch, and I think that is the reason my mind is transforming some of the elements into pieces of food -- popcorn (white), blackberries (purple), raspberries (pink), and lettuce (green). It looks like the lettuce is about to be bombarded by the other ingredients, creating a very interesting (and hopefully, delicious) fruit/popcorn salad. You've definitely sparked my imagination! Thanks for giving me a great opportunity to exercise my own creativity today! Please continue bringing your brilliance to life through your artwork, Ayanna!

I love the choice of colors and the symmetry and detail of how you have placed the shapes...... Did you actually see through a kaleidoscope before you made this because it really looks like what is seen through one. I loved these things when i was growing up and i am so happy you are actually having at least some of the experiences i had when i was growing up.

This is such an INTERESTING piece! How DO you do it? Sometime I would like to hear about the technique you used to "paint" the colorful patterns onto the outer ring. For now, I will say I love the mixture of bright colors and mesmerizing patterns you used to draw the eye and ignite the imagination. I also appreciate that this creation has depth and a lovely combination of flat/smooth and soft/fuzzy. Really fantastic!

I am very intrigued with this creation! I love the combination of lime, purple, and turquoise, and wonder what inspired you to choose these colors. I am impressed with the level of detail/intricacy, and can appreciate this is not something you threw together in 5 minutes. This took careful planning and quite a bit of time to assemble -- and the result is stunning! I also love the depth -- how the taller pieces draw my eyes downward and the lines lead me to where they converge at the center. I love the way you think!

I have to absolutely agree with your mom that the colors in the sky are AWESOME! I have been having a very bad day today, and when I saw those beautiful colors, my heart filled with peace and joy! I want to GO TO this place you have so skillfully created and sit with a cool drink next to this lovely pot of cacti! You have blessed me today with your lovely artwork, and I thank you for that! You are already a much more talented artist than I will ever be!

This is such a beautiful piece. I love how colorful and and detailed the artwork is. The patterns on the pot are so intricate and the cacti look quite realistic. My favorite part is the sky.....the most beautiful blend of colors- how did you do that? My little artist.....
