Nice, disciplined work, Emily. Interesting break in the pattern of ceiling, half way down hall. Would have really been cool to have the figure in distance down hall on right be a person who is having a quite, reflective moment. At first, that is what I thought it was. Some person sitting on floor. Keep up the great person.

Love the colors. A somewhat ominous sky hovers to the left. The figure is looking away from the attractive tree she is approaching and appears to be at a crossroads of sorts in her young life. Which choice does she make? The absence of facial features invites the viewer to put herself (or himself) into the "action" -- especially if the viewer himself is also at a crossroads. Thus, a possible title for the piece is "Time to decide," or "Crossroads on Hilltop." Love, Grand Pop

"An uncertain Journey" would be a good title for this piece. The central, "dark territory" -- juxtaposed with more familiar zones in front and behind -- evokes a theme of a journey. If the traveler is willing to take the risk of the journey, great rewards may follow. Keep up the great work! Love, Grand Pop

Great self-portrait, Emily! Very nice use of shading. Adds to the somewhat somber mood evoked by the work, and a little bit of mystery, too. It is not clear whether those eyes are saying, "please love me." Or are they saying, "I am a serial killer and you are going to be my next victim." That is what art is all about -- Art evokes feelings, and great art evokes some mystery as well. So, by that measure, you are showing some promise as a great artist!! Excellent Work, Emily!!! I especially liked the use of color and "symbols" in the hammer and nails work and the Cat face piece. Keep up the great work! Did you know that your great, great grandfather Felix Sabatino (from Italy) was an artist/sculptor? And your great Uncle John Sabatino was a very talented watercolor artist (and architech)? Maybe you got some "artist" genes from your Dad's side of the family. Also, I am sure there are some artists on your Mom's side of the family as well. Love, GrandMom and GrandPop.
