This is definitely a word that pops! There is so much to look at in this artwork, it kept me enthralled for quite a few minutes. Nice work, Mason! Can't wait to see more.

I do love some pop art! I think you really nailed it with this one, Mason. Yet again, I had to go read about this artist you were emulating, Wayne Thiebaud. Like him, you really seemed to make something commonplace into something extraordinary with your bold colors. Great job!

Wow! Very spooky! Halloween is my favorite holiday, so I am especially partial to this piece. I love the colors you were able to achieve with tissue paper. What a cool project!

Another Chesapeake Bay inspired project! Love it! How did you like working with ceramics? I took a ceramics class in high school and really enjoyed it. I never made anything inspired by the bay, but I did once make a blue hippo with hieroglyphs on it. It was inspired by an Egyptian artifact. Egyptians revered them because they were quite dangerous, often flipping their boats in the Nile. I'd love to hear more about this piece!

I love the title of this: "Benefit of Bugs"! I'm not the biggest fan of bugs and generally steer clear. But I know they are so important to our ecosystem - especially as pollinators, which it looks like this bug in your art project may be. Is he or she helping to pollinate the flower? Did you learn anything new about bugs for this project? I'd love to hear so I can better understand them, but I'll keep admiring them from a distance!

Oh! Chesapeake Bay animals? I love learning about all the cool wildlife we have in our home state. We are lucky to live in a place that's home to awesome animals. Did you learn about any new animals for your project? I like your choice of colors and paper. The black paper makes a great canvas and the uneven edges make it even more interesting to view!

I'm so glad to see some of your work posted, Mason! I've missed it! This picture is really cool, there is so much to take in and I really like the color palate. I know of the Audubon - a favorite organization of bird watchers. Did you learn about any birds in particular for this project?

Nice work, Mason! I really like your interpretation of Kandinsky's winter landscape. Like his work, your use of color really stands out to me. I appreciate the different types of brush strokes you've used as well! Can't wait to see your next piece of art!

Wow! Beautiful Rangoli, Mason! Did your class work on these in advance of Diwali? Can't wait to see more of your art this year! - LG

I love how your teacher incorporates these famous artists into your school artwork projects! So smart! A great way to learn about them - by recreating their styles yourself. I'm learning a ton. I never knew about Rousseau, but apparently he wasn't given great critical reviews in his day. It's always funny to read about these now beloved artists who weren't appreciated. Just goes to show you - sometimes you have to believe in yourself despite the critics! I guess it helps to have contemporaries like Picasso and Matisse support your work, too :)

I didn't know who Leo Lionni was until I saw your picture! I'm definitely going to check out his books. With beautiful colors like your picture, I'm sure they are great fun.

This one is so interesting! You definitely captured movement in so many ways - bridges, boats, and planes! Oh my!
