Great job, Layla. Love your color choices and the forward motion depicted by your action figures. Art class always rests our minds and allows us to show what we feel - even when they're assigned "projects." I enjoy being able to see your artwork and having a glimpse into your schooldays. Love you, Grandma Kathie

Really like your Polloch-style artwork. Like yours even better bc it's "more determined" than his, and your colors are more powerful. Keep having fun with your art. Love you. Grandma Kathie

Layla, Great love potion bottle! I see you learned how to show that glass is transparent, clear. That's hard to do. Your cork is also well drawn. You created a very distinct and clean piece of artwork. Good work. Love you, Grandma Kathie

Layla, I love this bottle with hearts painting! Your color choices are so nice. Each layer of color has hearts that are a complementary color. The hearts just pop out at you. The detail that the cork is painted with gives a very realist feel to the painting. Again, you've demonstrated an incredible innate sense of artistry with a work of art that appears to be painted effortlessly.

Good work, Layla. I like the baby plant before it grows tall. All the symbolic flowers telling the stories of your personal blossoms of growth are very interesting. The colors you chose are very calming. I especially like your striped pots. Such fun projects in your art class! XsOs?? Grandma Kathie

Nice "flower pots" artwork! I've been waiting to see new art creations from you. I like how you've used perspective you make the flower pots sit on the gray surface. The pink background is a perfect color to draw attention to the green stems. I look forward to seeing your next work of art! I love you, Grandma Bessie

Good job, Layla. Really like so many different colors and cut layers. The highlights make each item look 3-dimensional (not just flat on the page). Enjoy your time in art class. Grandma Kathie

Great winter tree. I like the colors and the nighttime snow. You're becoming a good artist. Your teacher seems to have good ideas for fun things to do and draw. I enjoy seeing your artwork. Grandma Kathie

Layla, Your "tree in the snow" painting is so well done I get cold just looking at it! ;-) The dark and snowy sky is a stormy blizzard. Your choice of blue and purple on the white snow emphasizes the chilly ground. It's amazing how well your art communicates feelings of the environment the tree is in. I hope you keep doing art, because you are very talented.

Layla, I did not know about Jim Dine hearts until now. You were able to use different mediums on your heart. The runny ink or paint looks like it was fun to try. Grandma's used to lacey valentine hearts so this one was a fun surprise!

Layla, I really like your winter art. It looks very much like your neighborhood in Clarendon Hills. I know you and Ari now have a snowman in your back yard. I especially like your trees that show the leaves are gone for the winter. You did a very good job of telling us all about winter through art instead of words. Happy snow! Love, Grandma Kathie

Layla, The winter scene artwork is very special. It shows a great composition and color choices. Smaller houses in the background make them look far away. The hills and sky have a very natural flow of real hills and snowy sky. I am very impressed by your artistic talent! Your art teacher has helped you grow as an artist. Love you, Grandma Bessie

Great art for the Fall season. The pumpkins and crow let us know summer is over and it will be cold outside again. I see you even drew the shadows made by the pumpkins. Good work! Grandma Kathie

Wow! Is the reaction from Grandma Bessie and Grandpa Jeff. We both think the sunflower art is amazing. We love how you used purple in the table top. The purple color contrasts nicely with the sunflowers, and makes them glow. Keep on painting!

Grandma Kathie loves Layla's ladybugs! They're so cute with all the different faces. Looks like you had fun making your artwork too. Keep up the good work!
