Am I looking at you Ava or am I looking at your Mom? Both of you look so much alike in real life AND in this picture! Job well donw on capturing the beauty in both of you!

I just happen to love sculptures so this is definitely one of my favorite pieces of your artwork! Now that your hand has healed, I know you are back to playing basketball. You must have been missing and thinking basketball when studying Alberto Giacometti. With those elongated arms, every shot would have the potential to be a slam dunk!

I can clearly see your usage of radical symmetry in your very pretty printwork Ava. I see six different patterns that are similar and radiate out from the center onto each one of the four squares. Reminds me of the radical symmetry on the petals of a flower. Good Job!

Is that really you Ava?? It looks like you used Mom's flat iron to get that lilac colored straight hair! I kinda miss your distinctive curls but I do so appreciate and like your creativity in mixing up your usual look! Keep up the good artwork this year

They say art is in the eye of the beholder. Here is what I see, Ava, when I look at your colorful whimsical mixed media drawing. In the foreground, i am imaging sitting on the sand of a beach under different colored umbrellas. The ocean is in the middle ground and the mountains make up the background on a bright fully sunny day! Let's go to the beach this summer!

You know spring is right around the corner when you start putting wind chimes outside and let the gentle breeze sway them! I ?? that you used a ?? as your main chime with the other smaller chimes complimenting your ??. Pretty artwork Ava, ?? Grammie

Ava, I am a huge fan of Romero Britto artwork. You can see quite a bit of his designs and sculptures here in South Florida. Its interesting that you chose Hamantaschen (yummy) to display Britto's joyful, bold colors and happy art! I think you definitely captured in your artwork that sense of brightness and fun.

Ok, I confess. I know the story line of Romeo and Juliet but I have never heard of nor listened to the fantasy overture. So, I did what any self respecting person living in 2024 would do to better understand your art work. I listened to a utube of the overture! When I look at your interesting artwork Ava, I am getting the message that with 4 headphones you are expressing that you enjoyed this musical piece and wanted to hear more! I agree. I did too! Happy New Year!

Oh Chanukah, oh Chanukah come light the menorah, its that happy holiday time again when we light the candles, sing songs and eat latkes! This year especially we remember the significance of Chanukah which celebrates a military victory of the Jews over foreign rulers. I especially like your Chagall inspired menorah because you used my favorite color, purple, as its base. I hope you and all your pals at Davis have a wonderful holiday season...... and maybe, just maybe, you may be surprised by receiving some of the Chanukah gifts you are hoping for!

I like your flower art work. They POP out and brighten up my day!

Not only is this a very pretty piece of artwork, it is also very interesting in that the viewer needs to decipher what number you chose. Here is what I see: an upside down 7. basically in green and a number 1, in purple. If you add the two together, you get the number 8 which is your age! I sure am curious as to whether I am correct or not. Call me and let me know!

S'hana Tovah. Wishing all at Davis Academy a happy and sweet New Year. Ava, I like how your drawing shows an open pomegranate displaying the pomegranate seeds, the healthy part of this fruit. Along with apples and honey, the pomegranate shows up on many Rosh Hashanah tables. Try it this year, I think you will like it!

Ava, welcome back to school and Mrs. Ganz's wonderful art class! I would have recognized you right away with the beautiful dark hair and your terrific big and always ready smile! But, the added benefit of this picture is that by looking at all the self portraits, I now can see all of your friends who are in 3b with you this year. Here is to a wonderful 3rd grade year and lots of art projects!

As you learned, Kandinsky was famous for his colorful abstract circles. I especially like the colors YOU chose for the outside decoration as well as the weaving threads. It takes some skill to use the loom to get the weaving just right. A skill you have mastered!

You have a smile on your face Ava, so you must be dreaming about something that will make you happy! To me it looks like wrapped gift boxes on your lap so I am guessing you are dreaming about your upcoming birthday. Here's knowing that when you open all those party gifts that you will be delighted by everything your friends picked out for you. Happy 8th birthday, GRANDdaughter!

Good job Ava of capturing the cubist style used by Picasso. In your mask, I can see that style by your use of different shapes for the eyes while at the same time looking at the nose from a different direction . I also like the colors you chose to make your cubist mask so interesting!

I like your collagraph printmaking of a sapling of a tree in honor of Tu B'shavat. Although you are very lucky to have many many trees in your own backyard, I have an idea. Wouldn't it be fun this year for a special Tu B'Shevat to plant a sapling somewhere in your yard and watch how big it may grow in all the years you live in your house! A Tu B'shavat to remember!

If I had as pretty and colorful umbrella and matching raincoat as you have drawn, no way would I mind a rainy day. I think that is what is called making lemonade out of lemons. Good job Ava!

Well, this is really an interesting drawing. If I am not mistaken, Pineapple house is where Sponge Bob lives with Gary his pet snail and Shelley his pet scallop. I like pineapples so I suppose I would like the smell of pineapples in this house. But if YOU lived here in this house Ava, it would definitely be too small for your dog Sadie or her cousin Bella who visits often. Guess you will just have to remain on Overview Ct!

Goldfish, because of their metallic scales, are a symbol of good luck . Watching goldfish swimming in their bowls creates a peaceful state of mind. I feel that calmness just looking at your colorful picture. Good job bringing these special fish to life.

What a pretty picture of a water lily that I can just imagine floating on a pond reflecting the sunlight of the day .I like your color choices as purple, yellow and green seem to work so well together. In fact, I think this artwork displayed on the dresser in your bedroom would be outstanding!
- Grammie on November 28, 2022

I just love this picture of a baseball loving robot who has baseballs for eyes, and bat in hand ready to take a swing. I wonder if your robot would prove to be as good a player as your are, Ava!? Remember when you hit that homerun a couple of weeks ago? While robots are wonderful for a vast array of different things like maybe cooking, cleaning, washing dishes, there is nothing like the human joy of connecting with a ball and making that ball do just what it is you want it to do!

Very nice picture Ava, of one of nature's healthiest foods. You know what they say, " an apple a day, keeps the doctor away". My favorite apple is Honey Crisp and I like to put peanut butter on them so that they taste like carmel candy apples. What kind of apple do you like best?

When I see your second grade self portrait Ava, I see sunshine. And, that is sooo you. You and your smile definitely bring sunshine to everyone you connect with?? !

Usually, I would definitely be fearful of a lion, the king of the jungle, but your colorful lion looks so friendly and harmless. His eyes are speaking to me,"I am a little sad because everyone is afraid of me. So, I have nobody to play with". Good job Ava
- Grammie on May 16, 2022
Dear Ava, I love the picture of the Lion. You did an excellent work in Choosing the beautiful and Bright colors and the results Are very beautiful. Keep up with your creativity. I love you so much. Safta ??

What a pretty picture of the skyline of Jerusalem. I am positive that one day you will go to this city and be able to see the skyline in person. It does indeed look familiar to me. The only thing I do not remember is palm trees. However, i just learned that palm trees in Jerusalem have been grown from 2000 year old seeds! Awesome that you captured this information in your artwork!!

I really like both your yad and choshen! With these two pretty items on your Torah, the Torah is definitively complete. You designed the blue and purple colors of the yad, to really stand out and the engraving on the choshen can clearly be read. Very nice work, Ava!

Hello beautiful Queen Esther (Ava)! I especially like how your created your crown to fit the size of your head. Not too heavy, not too light, but just right! Now where are those hamentashens for all to enjoy?!
- Grammie on March 9, 2022

I had not heard of Alma Thomas so I did what I always do when I need some information.....I GOOGLED her! Your big, beautiful, colorful drawing with spaces in each circle is just exactly what she does! Nice work Ava! Oh, I also learned Alma Thomas was born in Georgia, just like you!

Lets see if I can recognize all the people that went to the beach with you Ava. Here goes.... The tall guy with the yellow face looks like Saba. At first I thought Daddy but upon closer look, I realized, Daddy does not have any hair and he doesn't usually wear glasses. The pretty blonde lady is Safta The young lady with curly hair is you Ava and the young man next to you must be your bro Ari Where are Sadie and Bella in this beautiful Picture? Maybe sleeping inside? What I cannot figure out is where the beach is but it surely does look like a nice day to be there! Well, how did I do?
- Grammie on February 9, 2022
Ava, What a beautiful memory. We did have such nice time at the beach. Beautiful and creative picture. Much love, Safta

Just in case I would forget what you look like, (that's NEVER going to happen), you have created this beautiful self portrait to remind me of your long very dark brown hair and always always ready smile! Thank you! I especially like how you decorated your frame and even made it ready to hang!

Oh Ava, how lucky! You have put the letter gimel on your dreidle which means if we were playing the dreidle game, you would win ALL the pennies. Your dreidle, because it has the color purple on it, which you remember is my favorite color, sure is very pretty! I am ready to sing the dreidle song and play the dreidle game. Join me Ava. Happy Chanukah everyone

Ava, did you know that my most favorite color is Purple? I especially like your vase and flowers because you used so many different shades of my favorite color! I am wondering if purple is your favorite color as well. So pretty to look at again and again.

Very beautiful picture resembling trees looking into a mirror and seeing their reflection on a sunny day. I really like the colors you used for the trees against the blue of the sky. Great work, Ava!
- Grammie on October 6, 2021

Good job Ava of getting Rosh Hashanah symbols in your art work, apples and honey. Ancient Jews believed that apples had healing properties and honey signifies that the New Year will be sweet. I wish those very two things for you Ava. May you be safe from the present pandemic and may your New Year be wonderful and be everything you hope for! Sending Love

That is truly a beautiful Jewish star Ava! I love your use of colors How did you make it? It looks like ether finger paint or paper mache?

Whoa, that is a pretty scary mask Ava! Do you know what is my most favorite thing about Purim? It’s..... eating hamantashen!!! I am going to go out on a limb here, and guess your favorite think about Purim is dressing up as Queen Esther who does kinda look like Elsa!
- Grammie on March 11, 2020

Looks like you have discovered the key,Ava, to figuring out how old a tree is. You count the rings. Ok, whose older, your beautiful tree or Grammie??
- Grammie on February 12, 2020

Ava, I ??your artwork! Did you know that Marc Chagall was Jewish like we are and as a young boy went to a Jewish school like Davis, His peace windows are in many synagogues and represent love and tolerance among different peoples. You have honored these thoughts through your beautiful work
- Grammie on December 27, 2019

Happy Chanukah Ava! I really like your artwork dreidels. They put me in the mood to sing the Dreidel song and to play the dreidel game. I am going to select the letter Gimel and hope that each time we spin the dreidel it lands on that letter. Which letter will you pick? Love, Grammie
