Hi Parents and Guardians! As some of you have already noticed, an email went out from the Artsonia company asking you for permission to have your child's work to be published on this site. I didn't expect them to send their email so quickly, so they got to you before I had a chance to send mine!
Here's some information that will hopefully help you navigate the next three weeks and answer any questions you might have.
When- First and foremost, the assignments on Artsonia do not go into effect until April 13th!
Why Artsonia? Artsonia allows us a location for a virtual classroom. Different grade levels and buildings are using a variety of platforms for giving online help (Google Classroom, Teams, Dojo, etc...), so I wanted one location for parents and students to go that would allow them to have additional information about the Choice Board, along with links, videos, and examples. It also allows students to share their work as they complete an assignment. You can get on Artsonia through their website or their app.
Assignments- Your child will receive an Art Choice Board
in their next art packet. They have 9 options to choose from. They are only expected to choose ONE option each week since we only meet once a week for art. They are welcome to do more if they'd like. There will be links, videos, and examples for each lesson listed on the choice board. I will be working on updating that this week.
Turning in work- once a choice is completed, a parent or guardian should sign the box that was completed on the choice board page in their brain bag.
They do not need to turn in the actual assignment, just the signed choice board in the brain bag. If your student would like to share their work, they can upload a photo to the Artsonia page.
Permissions- The permissions email you received allows your child to share their work publicly. Work shown will only have their first name attached, so their is no privacy breach.
Uploading work- It would be nice for the students to see what one another are up to, but I understand that this may not be easily attainable for each family. I would suggest if you plan to upload images that you get the Artsonia app. It allows kids to stay logged in on a tablet or phone, and all they have do to is send the photo through the app. It seems fairly simple. If you choose to upload through the computer, that is an option as well. I will approve all photos coming in before they are public. There is a video for using the website in student mode on their website if you need more information, or email me!
