Hello Parents-
It has been a busy fall in the art room! Hopefully you have enjoyed seeing your child's artwork on the Artsonia website and hopefully it has made its way home! Just a reminder if you have not yet set up your parent account on Artsonia to take a minute to do this. You are the monitor of your child's account and are the only one who can approve fan club members and comments left for your child.
- Great news - Peyton7186 in Grade 6 has been randomly selected as a finalist in Artsonia's Artist of the Week voting contest. If you have a minute please go to the Artsonia homepage now through Saturday and click on the voting area and vote for Peyton in the grades 4 - 6 category!
- The Chromebooks are here for grades 5 - 7! We know the kids are excited but so are the teachers. Students are to bring their chromebooks to art class. We will be doing work within Artsonia, researching ideas and utilizing a variety of art and museum sites geared towards middle school.
- Art to Remember orders have arrived and are currently waiting to be unpacked! I plan on organizing them this weekend and sending them home with your child on Monday or Tuesday before Thanksgiving break if you have placed an order.

Just for Grade 5
The 5th grade Trimester 1 students are finishing up their final clay project. We will be glazing next week before Thanksgiving break. Just a reminder the end of the Trimester is Tuesday, December 1st. The current art students will be traveling to music class with Mr. Okray and Mrs. Horn's tech tools students will be coming to art class beginning Wednesday, December 2nd, 2015. Activity on Artsonia will decrease now that your child is no longer in art but anyone in art club will still have artwork posted during the year.
Just for Grade 6
The 6th grade Trimester 1 students are finishing up their final project which is a felted fish textile painting. Just a reminder the end of the Trimester is Tuesday, December 1st. The current art students will be traveling to music class with Mr. Okray and Mrs. Horn's FLEX students will be coming to art class beginning Wednesday, December 2nd, 2015. Activity on Artsonia will decrease now that your child is no longer in art but anyone in art club will still have artwork posted during the year.
Just for Grade 7
We are now a few weeks into 2nd quarter and students have finished up their sugar skull carvings and are working on some hand sketches/shading techniques. Following Thanksgiving break we will be working on a large clay project that will take us to Christmas break. I have been reminding students that anyone who was not happy with their 1st quarter grade has until 3 pm on Tuesday, November 24th to turn in any missing or late work to help improve their grade. This is the last opportunity to turn in items from 1st quarter.
Just for Grade 8
The 2nd quarter is underway and students are finishing up their Op Art 3 project and are in the process of making a miniature in clay. The Op Art 3 projects are now showing up on Artsonia if you would like to check them out! Following Thanksgiving break we will be focusing on pinch construction in clay.
